The old clubhouse has now been moved and a new one will replace it in the same position, overlooking the top courts. The grounds surrounding the new clubhouse will be cleared and will feature a new mini tennis court and practice wall. The porter cabin which is currently on the site will be removed. The area will then be covered in gravel with possible decking area. This stage of the build and connecting utilities will cost at least £40,000.
After receiving £50,000 from Sport England the Henley Tennis Club is currently upgrading its facilities. Preparation work started this week (23 Jan) with work beginning on clearing the lower derelict courts; and on the Friday, the moving of the old clubhouse by the committee and a couple of other members.
You can follow the progress on our facilities upgrade here, where pictures showing the work will be posted.
On the lower courts the trees are being cut back and the courts cleared. The surface will then be relayed and new fencing will be put up. The fence polls will be replaced where damaged and then painted dark green. Finaly a new gate will secure the new courts. This area of the work will cost around £23,000
